LEBANON, Ohio — A southwest Ohio man who pleaded guilty to killing a 16-year-old boy last year has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.

The Warren County prosecutor says 37-year-old Michael Geldrich of Franklin was sentenced Wednesday on aggravated murder and other charges.

Geldrich has testified that he and a co-defendant repeatedly beat Dione (DEE'-awn) Payne when the Dayton teen wouldn't give up his stash of money and drugs. They dropped him off at a hospital, and he later died.

The Dayton Daily News reports Geldrich apologized in court before he was sentenced and said he made "a terrible mistake."

Geldrich testified at the trial of his co-defendant, Michael Watson of Franklin. Watson was convicted of murder and other charges and was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.
