LOS ANGELES — A former Los Angeles cosmetic surgeon whose patient died during liposuction has been sentenced to five years in prison.

LA County prosecutors say Ehab Mohamed was sentenced Tuesday for involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say the Encino surgeon gave a lethal drug combination to 61-year-old Sharon Carpenter in 2010 during a liposuction procedure lasting more than 11 hours.

Mohamed also was sentenced for elder abuse involving a 77-year-old woman who lost consciousness during her liposuction.
