PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire — Museum officials in Portsmouth are trying to extend skating season of a popular outdoor rink.

The Portsmouth Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1RXxAUR) Strawbery Banke Museum officials filed an application with the Board of Adjustment for the coming season, requesting the extension.

The filing states museum board members said the museum limited itself last season — the first the rink was open — by only asking for three months. Last year, the rink's season ran from Dec. 1 to March 31 after museum officials appeared before the board to request a one-month extension. The museum now wants to begin each season on Nov. 1.

The request was scheduled to be heard at next Tuesday's board meeting, but the museum has asked for it to be postponed until August.
