3 children hospitalized after they're rescued from burning home in Atlanta

ATLANTA — Three children were hospitalized after being rescued from a burning home in Atlanta.

WSB-TV reports that crews ripped burglar bars from the windows and the front door to get to three children inside the home on Valley View Road Wednesday night.

Authorities say the children, who range in age from 5 to 12 years old, were taken to a hospital. A woman and her 9-year-old daughter who had escaped before firefighters arrived were also treated at a hospital.

Fire officials tell WAGA-TV that the blaze began in the kitchen near the front of the house and quickly spread back of the structure.

The cause of the fire was under investigation early Thursday.
