BILOXI, Mississippi — The state Department of Environmental Quality has lifted a water-contact advisory issued March 13 in Biloxi.

DEQ says the area of Biloxi beach between St. Peter and Dukate streets is safe for human contact.

There is still a water advisory active in the area of Gulfport beach from Alfonso Drive to Arkansas Avenue.

The DEQ says water in that area still shows high levels of bacteria.
