AUGUSTA, Maine — Police in Augusta think the same person is responsible for trying to rob one pharmacy, then successfully robbing a second pharmacy minutes later.

Officers responded to the Rite Aid store on Belfast Avenue at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday for reports of an attempted robbery. Deputy Chief Jared Mills says a suspect walked up to the pharmacy and showed a threatening note demanding prescription medication, but then fled on foot almost immediately and without taking anything.

About 15 minutes later, a suspect entered the Rite Aid on Hospital Street and made off with prescription medications.

The suspect description in both cases was similar — a white male, about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 with tattoos on his neck — although he wore different color shirts.
