PITTSFIELD, Massachusetts — Police say one person has died and two are critically injured after five people were shot in an argument in Pittsfield on Saturday night.

Pittsfield Police Sgt. Matthew Hill tells the Berkshire Eagle (http://bit.ly/1KDFK0f) a witness said he heard an argument followed by a scuffle, then gunshots. The incident took place in a parking area near the corner of Dewey Avenue and Linden Street at about 11:30 p.m.

The two most seriously injured victims were taken to hospitals in Pittsfield and Springfield.

One other person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and taken into custody by police on unrelated matters.

The fifth person was treated and released at a hospital.

Hill said more than one gun was involved. He said there doesn't appear to be any danger to the public.
