PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — The head of HealthSource RI is apologizing for persistent problems during the second year of open enrollment at the state health insurance exchange.

Director Anya Rader Wallack says customers have experienced technical glitches that have left them worried about whether they and their families are covered and have been unable to get timely answers and solutions to their problems.

She tells The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1LAtCuN ) that some people are getting what she would consider lousy customer service.

Wallack could not say how many people have experienced significant difficulties, but said at least hundreds of customers have had some major problems.

Customers have experienced incorrect subsidy amounts or being charged the wrong premium, mistakenly unenrolled or having coverage begin on the wrong date.

Nearly 28,000 individuals have subscribed since open enrollment began.
