CHESAPEAKE, Virginia — Two men arrested in a Virginia Marine Police sting face illegal fishing charges.
Marine police tell media outlets that the charges against Bi Chao Chen of Norfolk include possession of oversize red drum, over the limit of a commercial landing quota and operation of a power vessel after sunset without navigational lights.
Charges against Yuanjie Lin of Chesapeake include using a recreational gill net to catch commercially regulated fish, possession of oversize red drum and speckled trout and possession over the limit of red drum and speckled trout.
Marine police conducted the sting last Friday in Chesapeake following complaints from fishermen about poaching in the Elizabeth River.
Officers seized more than 3,000 pounds of fish.
