NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans starting cornerback Keenan Lewis was carted from the sideline after apparently injuring his left leg, but returned to action even after the Saints announced he would miss the rest of Sunday's game against San Francisco.

Lewis hurt his left quadriceps during coverage on a deep, incomplete pass intended for Vernon Davis and had to be helped to the sideline before being carted off shortly before halftime.

The Saints initially announced Lewis would not return, then upgraded him to questionable after halftime. New Orleans also said reserve running back Edwin Baker would not return after getting a concussion while on punt coverage.

Niners nose tackle Ian Williams had a leg injury and receiver Bruce Ellington injured his ankle in the first half, and the Niners said they would not return.
