Colorado Mesa University president says authorities believe accidental fall killed student

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — The president of Colorado Mesa University says authorities believe a student accidentally fell from a 4-story dormitory window and died on Saturday.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Spencer Pannwitz of Parker. He was a sophomore at the school.

According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel ( ), CMU President Tim Foster sent a message to students telling them the death was especially difficult for students and faculty because it occurred on campus.

Mesa County Chief Deputy Coroner Victor Yahn says the cause of death was multiple injuries and the manner of death is still being determined. He says foul play is not suspected.
