COLUMBIA, Mississippi — A Bassfield man has been sentenced to serve a year in prison for selling counterfeit handbags.

Attorney General Jim Hood says in a news release that 61-year-old Willie Lorenzo Greer pleaded guilty this week to one count of felony sale of counterfeit goods in Marion County Circuit Court.

Hood says Greer was accused of selling counterfeit designer handbags to Investigators with the Attorney General's office.

Judge Anthony Mazingo sentenced Greer to five years in prison with four years suspended and one to serve. Greer also will serve three years of post-release supervision.
