New Orleans officials hope $30,000 reward will lead to arrests in string of armed robberies

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans officials are hoping help from federal authorities -- plus a $30,000 reward -- will lead to arrests in a string of brazen robberies.

All three happened in the city's Uptown area. The latest was Monday night at an upscale bar. Two similar earlier robberies were at popular neighborhood restaurants.

In each, police say, armed masked men burst in and robbed patrons as well as the business itself.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite (poh-LEET') joined Mayor Mitch Landrieu on Tuesday to pledge support in solving the crimes.
