BRIDGEWATER, Massachusetts — Bridgewater police say two pit bulls were found shot to death in a wooded area of town, and suspect the animals may have been used in dog fighting.

The male dogs were found by a man out walking his own dog on Sunday afternoon.

Police Lt. Tom Schlatz says the dogs also had other injuries that led police to believe that they had been involved in dog fighting. He says it did not appear as if the dogs had been there long.

They were shot in the head with a small caliber weapon.

Necropsies are being performed and police are seeking the public's help in finding whoever is responsible.
