PORTLAND, Oregon — A Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman says a 50-year-old man has died in an apartment fire in southeast Portland.
Lt. Rich Tyler says firefighters rescued a woman and her 4-year-old son early Friday.
The spokesman says firefighters found heavy flames coming from a second-story apartment when they arrived at 2530 SE 125th.
Tyler says the man found unconscious inside an apartment suffered severe burns and was dead at the scene.
While the fire was confined to one apartment in the eight-unit complex, five residents have been displaced due to smoke damage.
Tyler says the fire was caused by abandoned smoking materials.
