HOLLANDALE, Mississippi — Former Hollandale Alderman Charles Morrow has been elected mayor.
The Delta Democrat Times reports (http://bit.ly/1qt5ban ) that complete, but unofficial, results show Morrow received nearly 53 percent of the votes in Tuesday's special election.
Morrow will complete the term of late Mayor Freddie Love, who died in April. Love had been elected in January, also in a special election, to replace Mayor Melvin Willis Sr., who died in office in November.
He will be sworn in July 1.
Morrow served as assistant police chief from 1971-77.
He has been the operations manager for Deltapine Monsanto in Hollandale the past 26 years.
Morrow was elected to the Board of Aldermen in 1988. He was re-elected three times before opting not to run in 2009.
