BINGHAMTON, New York — An upstate New York man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for an attack that left a 23-year-old man dead and his pregnant girlfriend seriously injured.

Local media report that 26-year-old Nigel Saunders was sentenced Friday in Binghamton. Saunders was found guilty in January of second-degree murder and other charges in relation to a November 2013 burglary and murder in the city.

Saunders and Julian Talamantez were accused of breaking into a Binghamton home and beating, stabbing, and setting fire to the victims, who were left for dead.

Jordan Dordell was killed and his 19-year-old fiancee injured.

Talamantez was sentenced in October to 40 years in prison for the same crime.
