CLAREMONT, New Hampshire — Authorities say an abandoned and malnourished pit bull is recovering after it was found on railroad tracks in New Hampshire.
WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1Q1uLQC ) the dog was found last week in Claremont on a cold, rainy night. The female pit bull will need several months of medical care and rehabilitation.
Police say it's unclear how the 27-pound dog ended up on the railroad tracks, or whether it was abused or neglected.
Cathy Sullivan, the owner of Lost My Way Animal Shelter, says it appears that someone left the dog there to die. The shelter is helping restore the dog's health.
