WRIGHT, New York — State police say a 28-year-old upstate New York man has been charged with drunken driving and manslaughter after a motorcycle crash.

They say Kristofer Govel was riding in the Schoharie County town of Wright when he ran off the road and hit a basketball hoop stand and then a building on Oct. 1.

His passenger, 24-year-old Colleen Rogers, was thrown off the bike and killed.

The crash in their hometown also left Govel injured.

Troopers say Govel was arraigned last week on charges of second-degree manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. Court officials weren't available to say if he has a lawyer.
