TEMPE, Arizona — Authorities say a man wanted for multiple felony warrants for weapons charges has been shot and wounded by Tempe police after an altercation.

Police say 55-year-old John Landolfi is hospitalized in serious condition.

They say Landolfi was shot several times by police officers near a Tempe motel about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say he was spotted in the motel's lobby. He ran out and got into a car and drove the vehicle in reverse around a building.

They say Landolfi's car was pinned between two police vehicles and he started ramming the officers' cars, prompting officers to fire at him.

Police say no officers were injured during the incident.

They say two Mesa police officers and a U.S. Marshals task force also was involved in the altercation.
