INDIANA, Pennsylvania — The second of two men convicted in what authorities called a drug-related slaying on a walking trail has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.

The Indiana Gazette ( ) reports that an Indiana County judge imposed the term Tuesday on 24-year-old Christopher Salsgiver of Glen Campbell.

Salsgiver pleaded guilty last fall to third-degree murder in the June 2013 slaying of 46-year-old James Alexander on a trial near Two Lick Creek.

His co-defendant, Gregory Patterson, was earlier convicted of second-degree murder and is serving a life term.

Prosecutors alleged that the two arranged a heroin buy with the victim but intended to rob and kill him because of dissatisfaction over earlier drug deals.

Salsgiver apologized in court Tuesday and said he knew his actions were wrong.
