    BERN, Switzerland — Basel captain Fabian Frei has been recalled to a Switzerland squad which features two newcomers for a European Championship qualifier against Lithuania and a friendly in Poland later this month.

    Frei was selected Friday by Switzerland coach Vladimir Petkovic just days after starring for Basel in a 4-0 Champions League rout of Ludogorets Razgrad.

    Petkovic also gave first call-ups to 20-year-old goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo of Young Boys and Zurich winger Marco Schoenbaechler in a 25-player squad.

    Switzerland hosts Lithuania at St. Gallen on Nov. 15 and travels to face Poland in Wroclaw three days later.

    Switzerland dropped out of the top 10 of FIFA's rankings last month after losing its first two Euro 2016 qualifiers against England and Slovenia.
