THIBODAUX, Louisiana — A 22-year-old Thibodaux man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after he pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter in a 2013 double shooting.
Police had charged Alfred Starks with second-degree murder in the Sept. 25, 2013, shootings of fellow Thibodaux residents Tre Scott and Jordy Williams. Scott was 19 and Williams was a few hours shy of 26.
However, midway through his trial last week, The Daily Comet reports (http://bit.ly/1VUilcI) Starks accepted two 25-year prison sentences as part of a plea deal. The sentences will run concurrently.
A formal sentencing took place Thursday before State District Judge Walter Lanier in Thibodaux.
