KEY WEST, Florida — Organizers of Key West's annual masking and costuming festival are anticipating good weather for the final days of Fantasy Fest, including Saturday night's signature parade.
Since Wednesday, some festival events have suffered cancellations or postponements. Forecasters at the Key West National Weather Service office say consistent rainfall was triggered by a complex weather situation involving a decaying frontal boundary over South Florida.
But meteorologists project the system will move away from the area beginning Friday and are predicting clear skies with only a 10 percent chance of rain for the decadent parade that traditionally attracts some 60,000 revelers.
The 10-day Fantasy Fest concludes Sunday with Children's Day at a local park.
Tourism officials say the festival typically pumps about $30 million into the Florida Keys economy.
