TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo is naming one of its police stations after its late mayor who died in February while in office.
D. Michael Collins was a police officer in Toledo before becoming mayor. City leaders are to officially rename the police station after Collins on Wednesday.
Collins died in early February after suffering cardiac arrest. He was just over a year into his first term as mayor of Ohio's fourth-largest city.
Collins' widow is running in a special election this fall to finish the last two years of his term.
