COLUMBIA, South Carolina — Authorities say a 23-year-old Greenville man has died after he was struck by a car on Interstate 26 northwest of Columbia.

Investigators said in a media release that Ja'vontae Davis' car broke down around 2:30 a.m. Sunday near mile marker 91 on I-26.

Troopers say Davis stepped into the right lane of the interstate and was hit by a passing car.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office and Highway Patrol are still investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.
