Lafayette police: Fight between 2 men leads to fatal shooting, suspect surrenders

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — Lafayette police say a fight between two men led to a fatal shooting.

When police arrived at the scene around 3:20 p.m. Monday, Cpl. Paul L. Mouton said in a news release they found 46-year-old Edmond Joseph Brown, of Lafayette, lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Mouton says 58-year-old Todd Hebert, also of Lafayette, the suspected shooter, was observed walking away from the scene.

Mouton says Hebert surrendered at the police station around 5 p.m. Monday, and was booked with second-degree murder.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Hebert.
