EAST LANSING, Michigan — Michigan State University says enrollment for the 2014 academic year is expected to be about 49,700 students, a slight increase over last year.
The preliminary figures were presented to the school's Board of Trustees on Friday. Last year's enrollment was around 49,300.
The school received more than 32,200 applications. This year's entering class is expected to be about 7,890 students, slightly higher than last year.
The official count of enrolled students will take place Sept. 22, one-quarter of the way through the fall semester.
