OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — Authorities in northeast Kansas say a 51-year-old man had been stabbed to death at least six months before his body was found in his home.

KCTV reports ( ) Overland Park police disclosed that detail following an arrest in the death of Chidozie "Joe" Ojiaka.

Twenty-two-year-old Edward Scott, of Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested Wednesday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder. Scott was being held Thursday on $1 million bond and did not yet have a lawyer.

Police went to Ojiaka's home and found the body June 8 after neighbors reported flies massing in the windows and a strong odor coming from the house.

Investigators said in court documents that Ojiaka was killed sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 9.
