National Weather Service confirms 2nd tornado in Massachusetts on Tuesday

WESTMINSTER, Massachusetts — The National Weather Service has confirmed that a second tornado touched down in Massachusetts earlier this week when a series of violent storms worked their way across the state.

A weak tornado with wind speeds of about 75 miles per hour touched down in the town of Westminster at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near Wachusett Mountain.

The weather service says the tornado was on the ground for about two minutes and had a damage path about a half-mile long and 75 yards wide at the widest point. Several trees were damaged but there were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Like the tornado previously confirmed in Wrentham, the Westminster twister was an EF-0, the weakest level. No one was hurt in Wrentham either.
