Email scammers at it again, falsely claim to be Dallas police chief, seek banking information

DALLAS — Email scammers are at it again and pretending to be Dallas police Chief David Brown.

A Dallas police statement Tuesday says the bogus emails, received by members of the public, wrongly seek personal financial information.

The FBI is helping investigate. Experts say victims should delete the emails and contact Dallas police.

Dallas police in November 2013 warned about an online international financial scam that also mentioned Chief David Brown and sought payment of fees. Officials say those swindlers apparently were operating from Ghana.
