A Lynn man has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for fatally beating his girlfriend's 3-month-old son, shortly after finding out he wasn't the child's father

SALEM, Massachusetts — A Lynn man has been sentenced to 16 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to fatally beating his girlfriend's 3-month-old son.

Anthony Gideika appeared in Salem Superior Court on Friday to plead guilty to manslaughter and assault and battery on a child. Judge David Lowy imposed the prison time.

Prosecutors said Gideika admitted inflicting injuries on Chase Gideika while caring for him and his twin brother while their mother was at a "tattoo party" in July 2013. Authorities said Gideika initially believed he was the babies' father, but learned a week before he beat Chase that they were not his children.

Officials ruled the boy died of blunt trauma to the head and torso.

The boys' mother also was arrested and faces trial in March.
