PHOENIX — A suspect in a fatal shooting at a Phoenix discount store 13 years ago has been arrested in Mississippi.

Phoenix police announced Wednesday that 35-year-old Michael C. Moye is being held on a homicide warrant in Moss Point, Mississippi by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office as he awaits extradition to Arizona.

Police say Moye is believed to be one of the three men who entered a Dollar Store in west Phoenix on June 16, 2001.

The store clerk was assaulted and a customer — 41-year-old Jaime Olivera-Perez — was shot and killed.

Police say the motive for the assault and shooting remain unclear.

They say Cold Case Unit detectives began a review of the case in 2012 and Moye was identified as a suspect.

The other two suspects remain unknown.
