WYCKOFF, New Jersey — A northern New Jersey town has requested the county prosecutor's office help in investigating the shooting of a dog by a police officer who went to the wrong house.

The Record newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1F5xbcN ) the dog's owners demanded answers from Wyckoff Township officials during a meeting Tuesday night. About 60 people picketed outside.

Goran Vukobratovic says his family remains angry over what happened to the 5-year-old German Shepherd, Otto.

Otto was fatally shot last week by an officer investigating a burglary. Police say Officer Kyle Ferreira went to the wrong address and shot the dog after it latched onto his foot.

Mayor Kevin Rooney requested assistance in the investigation, but says some comments have gone over the line. He says people have threatened the police chief and the officer.
