PHILADELPHIA — Police say two men were shot during separate confrontations with Philadelphia police officers less than an hour apart in different parts of the city.
Police said a man was shot four times in the Strawberry Mansion section of northwest Philadelphia at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Officers surrounded a home where suspects had reportedly taken refuge but allege that one of them walked out the back door and pointed a weapon at officers. He was shot by police and taken to Temple University Hospital along with the initial shooting victim.
Less than an hour later, police investigating a stolen motorcycle in southwest Philadelphia said a suspect was shot after allegedly trying to drive a vehicle toward officers. He was reported in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
