Tornado warning issued for St. Bernard, Plaquemines parishes


NEW ORLEANS — The National Weather Service has issued a second tornado warning for St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.

The warning effects west-central St. Bernard Parish and northwestern Plaquemines Parish until 12:15 p.m. That includes the cities of Belle Chasse, Chalmette, Violet, Poydras and Meraux.

The National Weather Service advises anyone in the affected area to take cover by moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows.
