BENNINGTON, Vermont — A woman accused of hitting a state trooper's cruiser in Sunderland, Vermont, and fleeing the scene has pleaded not guilty.
Police say 46-year-old Valerie Radford of Dorset was on her way to catch a flight at the Albany, New York, airport when the crash occurred March 30.
The trooper was on a Route 7 interchange ramp when an oncoming vehicle lost control and crossed the centerline. The cruiser was struck on the driver's side rear door and fender. The trooper wasn't hurt.
Radford eventually turned herself in. The Rutland Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1bzAsnk) Radford told police she had become disoriented and began to skid after hitting her brakes. She had seen the cruiser, but didn't feel anything or notice any damage to her SUV.
Radford was released without bail.
