BOSTON — Gov. Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will be among those on hand when ground is broken for a $31 million renovation of the New England Center for Homeless Veterans.
The Boston Globe (http://bit.ly/1GDtgmF ) reports Wednesday that the facility near City Hall will be updated with new living quarters, transitional services and vocational programs.
The project is expected to take about 18 months to complete and is being financed by a combination of public and private sources.
The center's president and chief executive, Andy McCawley, says the facility benefits about 1,500 homeless veterans around the region each year. It will remain open during the renovation.
