LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services says the state's unemployment rate dropped to 6.2 percent in July.
The agency says the jobless rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point from June's numbers. The 6.2 percent unemployment rate mirrors the national rate in July.
Officials say seven major industry sectors posted decreases in July. The biggest drop came in the government sector, which reported a drop of 12,700 jobs. Officials say the decrease is caused by summer break at schools and universities.
Jobs in trade, transportation and utilities decreased by 900 in July as well.
Officials say five industry sectors posted gains, with most coming in educational and health services and in leisure and hospitality.
