CHEYENNE, Wyoming — A bill transferring the Clifford P. Hansen Courthouse to Teton County has won approval in the U.S. Senate.

The Senate unanimously endorsed a federal conveyance bill sponsored by Wyoming Republican Sens. John Barrasso and Mike Enzi late Tuesday.

The proposal returns the courthouse back to the county and allows the federal court system to lease space to continue holding hearings in the building.

Barrasso introduced the legislation at the request of the Teton County Commission.

Teton County will have to purchase the building for fair market value and maintain the property for public use for the next 20 years.

The bill still needs to be approved by the U.S. House.
