SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts — Authorities in western Massachusetts say they captured a man who stole a police cruiser and taunted officers on the radio during a 20-minute joyride.

Springfield police say the taunts by 27-year-old city resident Michael Kopeski included "You guys are boring. I am going to go find crime."

Police say they were called to a domestic disturbance involving Kopeski and his girlfriend at about 4 a.m. Thursday. Authorities say Kopeski fled in a cruiser that the officers had left running, and it appears the cruiser's automatic lock malfunctioned.

Police say Kopeski drove around the city taunting officers on the police radio before being stopped. Officials say Kopeski resisted arrest and injured two officers.

Kopeski was charged with assaulting police and larceny. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
