BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Louisiana has 58 new state troopers.
The Louisiana State Police academy held graduation ceremonies Friday in Baton Rouge for the cadets who completed a 19-week training course. Seventy-two entered the training, but 14 didn't make it to graduation.
Training includes crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, impaired driving detection and traffic incident management.
The new troopers get added to a force of about 1,000. They'll be split among nine different troops in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houma, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Monroe, Shreveport, Lafayette and Mandeville.
