Department of Corrections searching for Decatur inmate after escape from work release

DECATUR, Alabama — Department of Corrections officials are searching for an escaped inmate in north Alabama.

Officials say Theodore Dewayne Lockett completed his work detail but was missing early Friday morning when officers came to pick him up.

Corrections officials say Lockett was serving a 20-year sentence on robbery charges from 2004.

Lockett is an inmate at the Decatur Work Release Center. Details on how Lockett was able to escape before officers arrived weren't immediately available.
