CONCORD, New Hampshire — The New Hampshire Employment Security office says the state's unemployment rate for January was 4 percent, unchanged from December.
In January 2014, the seasonally adjusted rate for New Hampshire was 4.6 percent.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January was 5.7 percent, an increase of one tenth of a percentage point from the December rate, and a decrease of nearly a percentage point from the January 2014 rate.
In New Hampshire, seasonally adjusted estimates for January placed the number of employed residents at 713,200, an increase of 1,540 from the previous month and an increase of 5,100 from January 2014.
The number of unemployed residents decreased by 190 over the month to 29,420. This was 5,110 fewer unemployed than in January 2014.
