SIMI VALLEY, California — Crews have stopped the progress of a 40-acre wildfire northwest of Los Angeles.

Authorities say the blaze that began Wednesday evening in Simi Valley is 50 percent contained, it's not expanding and no homes are threatened.

About 100 firefighters, aided by helicopters, fought the flames near Bannister Way and Wood Ranch Parkway.

Fire crews are expected to remain there through the night.

There's no word on what started the fire.
