Morgan's free throw in 2OT lifts Cornell over Colgate 101-98


HAMILTON, New York — Robert Hatter scored a career-high 33 points and Matt Morgan sank the game-winning free throw in the second overtime to give Cornell a 101-98 win over Colgate on Monday night.

Wil Bathurst's jumper with 49 seconds left in OT forced the second overtime after Darryl Smith tied it at 76 with a jumper with 2 seconds left in regulation.

Colgate led 98-96 in the second overtime after Malcolm Regisford's free throw, but Morgan was fouled and hit two free throws for a 100-96 lead. Colgate's Tom Rivard hit a layup to make it 100-98 with 1 second left, then Bathurst iced it with a free throw.

Morgan scored 16 and Smith and Bathurst had 14 points each for Cornell (1-1). David Onuorah grabbed 14 rebounds.

Jordan Swopshire scored 19 points for Colgate (1-1) and Regisford and Alex Ramon scored 17 each. Austin Tillotson added 15 with 11 assists.
