State police investigating officer-involved shooting that injured at least 1 person

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Arkansas — The Arkansas State Police is investigating after a Helena-West Helena police officer shot a person.

Authorities say police were dispatched Tuesday afternoon to a call about people in two cars who were apparently shooting at each other.

Police followed one of the cars, and state police say the responding officer became engaged in the gunfire, which left one person injured. The injured person was taken to a local hospital.

Authorities did not release the name of the officer or the injured suspect. The officer was not injured.
