WALKER, Louisiana — Authorities say a Livingston Parish sheriff's deputy has been arrested after allegedly beating an inmate.
Sheriff Jason Ard said in news release Wednesday 35-year-old Karleen Leglue (leg-lou) was fired, arrested and booked Tuesday into the same jail where she worked.
Ard says Leglue was booked with second-degree battery and malfeasance.
Ard said Leglue grabbed handcuffed inmate, 41-year-old Londi Lafleur, and forced her body against a concrete wall. He says Lafleur's head hit the wall, causing a large knot on the left side of her face.
Lafleur was booked into the jail Monday on various traffic, drug and theft counts.
Leglue was released Tuesday after posting a $35,000 bond.
Online jail records did not list an attorney for her.
