DENVER — Authorities say an Adams County sheriff's deputy was shot while trying to arrest a man in northwest Denver who may be linked to a triple homicide earlier this week.

The deputy, whose name hasn't been released, was shot Friday afternoon and is in fair condition at a Denver hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Denver police Cmdr. Matt Murray says the man who was arrested, identified as Furmen Leyba, is suspected in the shooting deaths of three men whose bodies were found in an Adams County home Wednesday. Another suspect in that case, 41-year-old Gabriel Flores, muttered to himself during his first court appearance Friday and told a judge he hadn't been told what charges he's facing.

Authorities haven't released many details about the slayings, including the ages or identities of those killed. Court documents in the case are sealed.
