PAYNESVILLE, Minnesota — Authorities have identified two men who died after their vehicle collided with a freight train in central Minnesota.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that 52-year-old driver Charles Wayne and his 23-year-old passenger, Nathan Bahner, died in the crash Saturday. Both men were from Paynesville and died at the scene. Their relationship is unclear.

Authorities say the vehicle collided with a Canadian Pacific train about 3 p.m. Saturday at an intersection just west of Paynesville.

The crash is under investigation.
